SOMATIC YOGA THERAPIST

Trauma Healing

About Me......

Kim began a longtime health and fitness career as a personal trainer.  She noticed from the beginning a greater rate of healing and attainment of particular goals of her clients when there seemed to be a more expansive dialogue between the brain and body.  Kim dove deep into education and trainings that further confirmed her curiosities of mind/body connection and thriving.  She gained many pilates and yoga certifications in particular a Psychotherapeutic Yoga certification that shifted her career and focus towards healing and therapeutic means for bringing the system and client into greater equilibrium, through breath, meditation and movement. Since the addition of somatic training Kim has seen increased ability in her clients to contain and renegotiate the effects of trauma; their affirming of experiencing a more purposeful, passionate and authentic life because of the release, equilibrium and healing that somatic work provides.

Kim is a certified yoga therapist with International Association of Yoga Therapists and Yoga Alliance, and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner through Peter Levine’s, Trauma Healing. Her long term focus and practice has been on modalities involving body work and certifications in personal training, pilates, yoga, health coaching (Institute for Integrative Nutrition), Happiness Studies Academy (Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar)and myofascial therapy. Kim lives in Austin, TX with her husband Matt and two dogs, Becks and Juniper.

The Somatic Experiencing approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma.  It offers a framework to assess where a person is "stuck" in the fight, flight or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states.  SE fosters awareness of the felt sense and healing from the bottom up which is necessary when addressing trauma and lack of mind body connection and dialogue.

Lets get connected.....
